Why reassurance may not last
Reassurance can reduce anxiety briefly. The difficulty is that the mind may learn that checking, searching or asking was necessary before you could feel safe. The doubt then returns and asks for another answer.
You may understand the issue perfectly and still notice that your body or behaviour responds before logic has time to catch up. My work combines psychotherapy and hypnotherapy to identify the automatic pattern and help your mind learn a different response.
Focused around your pattern
We look at what happens before the anxiety rises, what your mind predicts, how your body responds and what you do next. The work is specific to you rather than a set of generic calming exercises.
The Anxiety Hub explains many of these patterns through the exact questions people ask when anxiety has started controlling too much of their day.
We can focus on:
- Panic attacks and physical symptoms
- Health anxiety
- Overthinking and reassurance
- Avoidance and anticipatory anxiety
